Marlie's Restaurant | Our Story

Southern Roots

Deep in French Settlement along the Amite River, Marlie's was born in 2023 with a single, clear purpose: to celebrate the culinary Legacy of Charles "Charlie" Brown who passed away in 2021. As a celebration of Charles's life, we made a dedication of Charlie and his wife, Marla Brown. A combination of their names created the name of the restaurant, Marlie's.

The Owner's Vision

Marlie’s was envisioned and founded by Micah Barton, who worked with Charlie and Marla Brown for over 15 years. Charlie had a genuine love for his restaurant, for his customers, his friends and his family, that compared to none. Charlie truly displayed the definition of "Southern Hospitality". Over the years, Micah was taught his cooking skills by Charlie. Believing that food is a sacred connection to family and friends, Micah set out to create a dining destination that preserves Charlie's vision, while celebrating the local community and true southern style dishes.

We Measure with our Heart

We believe great flavor truly comes from the heart and soul of the person making the dish. At Marlie’s, we cook with our hearts, just as Charlie did. We don't measure out seasonings and ingredients—we put in what feels right. Every meal might have a slight variation in taste and flavor, but our guarantee is that it'll be delicious every time you dine with us. We believe this is how you know you're getting fresh, home-cooked meals, rather than the frozen, processed foods that other restaurants use.

The shrimp po'boy

The shrimp po'boy is overloaded with shrimp. Get the bang bang shrimp version and you'll see why the bun won't close.

Steak night is a favorite here, and the seafood sauce is worth asking for.
